Additional comments | DVD-Video containing part 7 of the series called Movie Connections, broadcasted on BBC 1. It's a programme about the making of movies, in this case about Local hero. Mark Knopfler's score is briefly discussed. There is some footage of Mark Knopfler in what appears to be an editing suite with Bill Forsyth, the film's director. Local hero was the small British film that asked the materialistic, money-obsessed 1980's to take a long, hard look at itself and decide what kind of future it wanted. The film's makers faced a constant behind-the-scenes struggle for the soul of the movie, with the Hollywood studio pitted against producer David Puttnam and writer/director Bill Forsyth. Peter Reigert, Denis Lawson and others recall the making of this classic tale. Good picture and sound quality. Total running time is about 39 minutes. |
