VIDEO PRESS KIT BROTHERS IN ARMS A rare recording of the Brothers in arms press kit, produced by Phonogram in May 1985. It's a 45 minutes interview with Mark Knopfler about the Brothers in arms record, new band members, recording the album, touring, the sponsorship of Philips Compact Disc, the costs of touring, Mark telling he prefers CD's above LP's and cassettes, the benefits of CD's, the way Dire Straits concerts are organized, making videos and various other interesting things. The picture quality is OK but could be better. The sound quality is good. The interview itself is interesting and different from all the other pretty standard interviews. PROMO VIDEO ON EVERY STREET This is the promo video made for the On every street album, produced by Phonogram, 1991. The promo video contains various TV commercials (long and short versions) for the On every street album. The commercials are very nice to watch as they used the puppets which can also be seen in the Calling Elvis video clip. Apart from that, this promo video contains the video clips of Heavy fuel (twice), Private investigations, Love over gold (Alchemy), The bug (twice) and Calling Elvis. The picture quality is pretty good, but there are some crackles in the sound. As a bonus, another variation of the TV commercial is seperately added (broadcasted on MTV). Picture and sound quality of this small bonus part are both very good. VIDEO PRESS KIT GOLDEN HEART This is the video press kit for Golden heart, titled "A conversation with Mark Knopfler" and produced by Mercury records. It's a 20 minutes interview with Mark Knopfler, recorded in March 1996. Mark tells about the songs he wrote for this album, the Irish influences, the places he went to record the album, the emotional side of the album, the musicians he played with and a lot of other interesting stuff. He also mentions very briefly that he loved to record this record, but also loved to record the On every street album very much too. Besides Mark, there are also a few comments from Richard Bennett, Chad Cromwell, Guy Fletcher, Jim Cox and Glenn Worf. Both picture and sound quality are rather good. VIDEO PRESS KIT SAILING TO PHILADELPHIA This is the video press kit for Sailing to Philadelphia, produced by Mercury records. Taken from an original master VHS, so both picture and sound quality are very good! It's a 32 minutes interview with Mark Knopfler and takes him to all the places where he grew up when he was a kid. He is talking about these places telling what his life was about when he was young. He also shows the appartment where the band were making their very first attempts of writing and playing the first Dire Straits demos. Mark is sitting in the middle of a lot of his guitars talking about them and the music. Another nice part is the filming in the amusement park "Spanish City" where Mark was inspired to write the song Tunnel of love. Mark says that every day this park opens his doors, the song Tunnel of love is played. Also great to see is the wall that was Mark's inspiration to write the song Love over gold. Furthermore, you can see Mark playing some accoustic parts of What it is, Baloney again and Romeo and Juliet. He is also filmed during the recordings/rehearsals of the song Sailing to Philadelphia. There are also parts where Mark is talking with Steve Philips and Brendan Croker and you can also see him driving in his red racecar (Maserati). As Mark says in this special: "Maserati 300S and the Fender Stratocaster, both got to be red, really". VIDEO PRESS KIT THE RAGPICKER'S DREAM This is the video press kit for The ragpicker's dream. This version includes Spanish subtitles. Good picture and sound quality. Really nice to hear Mark talking about how the album developed, the plans for a new tour (which unfortunately never took place because of his motorcycle accident), explanations of songs and nice facts. The press kit itself is about 16 minutes followed by the video clips of Why aye man, What it is and Wag the dog. VIDEO PRESS KIT SHANGRI-LA This is the video press kit for Shangri-La, produced by Mercury records, 2005. You can see Mark in the studio playing various parts of the album. Mark is telling about the studio, how the songs were recorded, the recording technologies, explanations about certain songs and other interesting things. Besides Mark, there are comments from Glenn Worf, Richard Bennett, Guy Fletcher, Chad Cromwell, Jim Cox and producer Chuck Ainley. Great to hear the story from Chuck about how he came in contact with Dire Straits for the recording of the On every street album. The press kit is about 30 minutes. Both picture and sound quality are very good. VIDEO PRESS KIT ALL THE ROADRUNNING This is the video press kit for All the roadrunning, produced by Mercury records, 2006. You can see Mark and Emmylou Harris in a room being interviewed talking about how they got involved in this project and of course telling about the songs on the album. In between, you can see some video footage how the promo photos where shot. The press kit is about 16 minutes. Both picture and sound quality are very good. VIDEO PRESS KIT KILL TO GET CRIMSON This is the video press kit for Kill to get Crimson, produced by Mercury records, 2007. You can see Mark in the studio playing parts of the album. Mark is telling about the British Grove Studios, how the songs were recorded, the recording technologies, explanations about certain songs and other interesting things. Besides Mark, there are comments from Glenn Worf, Danny Cummings, Guy Fletcher and producer Chuck Ainley. The press kit is about 18 minutes. Both picture and sound quality are very good. VIDEO PRESS KIT GET LUCKY This is the video press kit for Get lucky, produced by Mercury records, 2009. Mark is telling about the new album, guitar builder John Monteleone, how he used to write some Dire Straits tracks as an observer, how much he likes his privacy, how much he likes his own British Grove Studios and lots of other interesting things. The presskit also features the TV commercial used for the Get lucky album. Total playing time is about 16 minutes. Good picture and sound quality.
