ROCKLINE 1993
Additional comments:
Very interesting radio broadcast from 10th May 1993. It's a radio
broadcast from Hollywood and the radio station has direct contact
with Mark Knopfler in London where it is 05:00 in the morning at
that time. It's one day before the release of "On the
night" in the USA, so the show is pretty much dedicated to
that release and the On Every Street tour. Besides the reporter
interviewing Mark Knopfler, there are also questions from fans
who could ask their questions directly to Mark over the radio.
That part is especially very interesting and it's really great to
hear how kind Mark responses to all the questions. Some examples
of questions from fans asked directly to Mark:
- what do you think of the new
live album compared to Alchemy?
- why didn't you record anything together with Eric Clapton?
- is the Telegraph Road in Pontiac the same road as in the song?
- what did you learn from playing with Chet Atkins?
- are there some songs that you play live that you *really* like
and are there songs that bring tears to your eyes?
- what input did you have to make the video of Brothers in Arms?
- why did David leave the band and why haven't you recorded
something together after that?
- how did The Notting Hillbillies come off ground?
- will Dire Straits release a box-set?
- Is the Twisting by the Pool EP available on CD?
Personally, I like this CD very much because it is great to hear the fans directly talk to Mark. A bit of hiss on the background, but very listenable! Available on one CD-R.
