Additional comments

Apart from his very well known work with Dire Straits, Mark Knopfler has contributed to many albums of various artists. The series of "Session Work" is a compilation of these songs.
The first four songs are taken from the time that Mark Knopfler and Steve Phillips performed together as The Duolian String Pickers [1969-70, 1972].  The following is taken from the booklet of the Lindisfarne CD: Recorded by Hand. Rod: "One afternoon in Spring 1974 Mark Knopfler from Newcastle turned up on my doorstep in Finchley with a guitar, asking if I wanted to join a group. "Groups Schmoops" I replied, having just left Jack The Lad, but he came in for a bit of a play anyway, I used the old hollow Gretsch (to save plugging in), as we huddled round my state-of-the-art Pifco cassette recorder I could tell that Mark knew where he was going, and had what it took to get there. Later the two of us went to see Richard Thompson playing in Hampstead. It was a pretty good day."  The song If I had you has nothing to do with the Dire Straits song with the same name. Rod's version features a nice solo by Mark Knopfler. Mademoiselle will decide is a great rock 'n roll tune sung by Mark Knopfler! Great to hear, very rocking and recorded on 24th September 2001 with Jools Holland. Don't be cruel and Rock 'n roll Ruby are taken from the Japanese edition of Good rockin' tonight. The track Sailing to Philadelphia on the James Taylor CD is the original duet performance of Mark Knopfler's album Sailing to Philadelphia. You better move on was played live before by Mark with The Notting Hillbillies (16th July 1998) and he also did a session for this song before together with Chuck Jackson (see: "Session Work IX").

Note: since this are all official recordings, I do NOT copy or trade this material. It's just meant for people who are looking for songs with Mark Knopfler and want to check on which albums these songs can be found.
