Over the years, I collected a lot of officially released tourbooks and programmes. I listed all tourbooks and programmes from my collection below. If you have any Mark Knopfler related tourbook or programme that is missing in my collection and are willing to sell it or trade it for material from my bootleg collection, please contact me and maybe we can have a nice trade. Click here for an overview of the programmes I am still looking for.

The last dates in March 1981 were the nights at the Festival Theatre, Adelaide, Australia. |

Japanese concerts on this tour. In April 1981, there were only concerts in
Australia and New Zealand. The tour was also longer than mentioned in the
tourbook as it officially ended on 6th July 1981 at the
Hall Omnisports, Luxembourg,
Luxembourg. Compared to the other tourbook of this tour, there are lots of differences in pictures. |

Artist | Duran Duran & Dire Straits |
Event | "The Prince's Trust Rock Gala"
Date | 20th July 1983 | |
Number of pages | 44 | |
Comments | This is the rare souvenir programme of the second Prince's Trust Rock Gala in the history of The Prince's Trust, established in 1976. Location was the beautiful Dominion Theatre in London, UK. At this show, Prince Charles and Princess Diana were present. It was a double bill show featuring Duran Duran and Dire Straits as the closing act. The programme features some background information about the Prince's Trust, the programme of the evening, information about the artists that performed on the show and adds from companies and people who wish The Prince's Trust a succesful evening. Also a very interesting advertisement with photos by Sony who introduced the CD and CD-player mentioning that it will be available on 1st March 1983 (the CD-player was introduced for the very first time by Sony on 1st October 1982, but then it was still only available in Japan). And a nice picture on the back of the programme mentioning: By appointment to The Prince's Trust. Purveyors of fine hot riffs. Dire Straits. It was the first time Dire Straits played at The Prince's Trust Rock Gala. Dire Straits / Mark Knopfler would later appear again on the Prince's Trust shows in 1985, 1986 and 1988 (see other programmes in this overview) |

Date | 1983 / 1984 | |
Number of pages | 20 | |

This is the souvenir
programme the Silver Anniversary world tour of The Shadows. On a Shadows
forum I read that Mark Knopfler appeared as
a special guest on the concert of The Shadows at the Dominion Theatre 1983.
The programme lists
two dates for this venue: 19th and
20th October 1983.
Unsure if Mark was there on both nights, but he was asked to play guitar on
Wonderful Land and Going Home. Ed Bicknell contacted me in
August 2024 and said: "MK did play with the Shadows on their show at the
Dominion. One show only, 19th I think. I was with him. A HUGE thrill for us
both." I found a picture of Mark Knopfler together with Bruce Welch. Unsure from which date, but it is likely that it is from this guest appearance. This programme also features a small picture of Dire Straits. |

Event | "Live Aid" | |
Date | 13th July 1985 | |
Number of pages | 162 | |
Comments | Live Aid was a multi-venue rock music concert held on 13th July 1985 at Wembley Stadium, London, UK. The event was organised by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure in order to raise funds for famine relief in Ethiopia. Billed as the 'global jukebox', the main sites for the event were Wembley Stadium, London (attended by 72.000 people) and JFK Stadium, Philadelphia (attended by about 90.000 people), with some acts performing at other venues such as Sydney and Moscow. It was one of the largest-scale satellite link-ups and television broadcasts of all time: an estimated 1.5 billion viewers, across 100 countries, watched the live broadcast. Dire Straits played at 18:00 p.m.(Sultans of swing and Money for nothing with Sting). After their Live Aid performance, Dire Straits literally walked across the car pak to the nearby Wembley Arena for their own concert which was part of their Brothers in arms world tour. This is the concert programme that was sold that day. |

During the Brothers in arms
world tour, Dire Straits played 13 consecutive sell out concerts at Wembley
Arena, London, UK. The first of these 13 shows, 4th July 1985, was
for the charity of The Prince's Trust. At this show, Prince Charles and
Princess Diana
were present. The book features some background information
about the Prince's Trust and many companies and people that are
congratulating Dire Straits. One of the nicest things is the text by Prince
Charles at the beginning of the book: "As President of The Prince's Trust, I am extremely grateful to the artists and their management for agreeing to give the proceeds of tonight's concert to my Trust. I would like to thank most warmly all those who have contributed their time and effort in producing this Gala. Finally my best wishes go to all the members of Dire Straits for a happy and successful world tour." Charles. |

This is the
'85/'86 edition of the tourbook. There are some differences compared to the
other '85/'86 edition: on the world map, Japan is removed (in
April 2013, Guy Fletcher also confirmed on his forum that Dire Straits did
not visit Japan in 1986). The programme also holds a separate pink square
sheet to order Live in '86 merchandise, priced in Australian Dollars. This
programme was sold during the last leg of the tour in New Zealand and
Australia (it came with a concert ticket from 19th February 1986). Where the
other

Date | 10th February 1986
Number of pages | 60 | |
Comments | The Brit Awards (stylized as the BRIT Awards; often simply called the Brits) are the British Phonographic Industry's annual pop music awards. The name was originally a shortened form of "British" or "Britannia", but subsequently became a backronym for British Record Industry Trust. At the 5th Annual Brit Awards, Dire Straits won a Brit Award for Best British Group. The programme features various artists, statistics and of course a few mentionings of Dire Straits including a very nice page to mentioning Brothers in arms being the biggest selling LP in the UK 1985. |

Comments | This is the Eric Clapton programme for his USA tour in 1987. It features dates from 11th April - 27th April 1987. Mark Knopfler was no member of the band for that part of the tour, but he is featured twice in the programme, see here and here. Artist | Tina Turner |
Tour | "Break every rule" world tour
Date | 1987 / 1988 | |
Number of pages | 32 | |
Comments | This is Tina Turner programme for her world tour 1987-1988. Connection between Mark and Tina: Mark wrote the hit Private Dancer which was originally planned to be on the 'Love over gold' album, but since Mark thought it didn't fit well, he gave the song to Tina. This programme features a group photo taken at the Prince's Trust Rock Gala 1986 - The Birthday Party and a big separate photo of Mark and Tina together. The programme also features some of Tina's interests and it is nice to see that Dire Straits are both listed under favourite singles and albums, but also that Mark Knopfler is her favourite guitar player. |

Number of pages | 20 | |
Comments |
This is a rare souvenir
programme for the May Fair Double O Ball that was held on Tuesday 20th
October 1987 in the May Fair Hotel, London, UK. The Double O is a charity
group founded by Pete Townshend of the Who. The trust disburses funds for
such causes as relief of drug and alcohol addiction, domestic violence and
sexual abuse. It also provides funds for music education, emergency disaster
relief and young people's prison reform. In attendance at the event was Pete
Townshend, Steve Winwood, Mark Knopfler, Bill Wyman of the Rolling Stones,
Lorna Luft and others. The programme is filled with info about the charity
group, advertisements from sponsers like Pink Floyd, the Rolling Stones and
others. It also mentions the nights entertainment including "special guests"
who were Pete performing with Mark Knopfler. I have been in contact with a
man who attended this ball and he said that Mark and Pete played old Elvis
songs for about 30 minutes, including That's all right mama.
They
didn't play any Who songs, or Dire Straits songs though. There was also an
auction that evening, the prizes are mentioned in this programme aswell. The
first prize was a silver replica of the 1932 Alfa Monza racing car designed
by Theo Fennell and signed by Mark Knopfler, who drove it in the 1986 and
1987 Mille Miglia race. Donated by the May Fair Hotel and Alain de Cadenet. |

Official
programme for the Nelson Mandela tribute.
Wembley Stadium on 11th June 1988 was the venue
for a unique gathering of musicians and performers from all over the world
who under the banner of Artists Against Apartheid paid tribute to Nelson
Mandela for his 70th Birthday. An audience estimated to be well over half a
billion people in some 63 countries participated in an event with a simple
compelling message: "Free Nelson Mandela". Dire Straits appeared as the
closing act of that unforgettable day with Eric Clapton on second guitar.
Text from Mark Knopfler in the programme: "In 1979, Dire Straits' first album was no.1 in many countries in the world, including South Africa. When the band donated their South African royalties to Amnesty International, and released a statement condemning apartheid, we were banned by the Government's broadcasting authorithy, a response which Dire Straits regard to this day as a very great compliment. Since then, Dire Straits have been a major supporter of the world movement to end the apartheid regime in South Africa. We are proud to be part of this day." Mark Knopfler. Dire Straits was the first band who were asked to participate in this special event and immediately agreed. The back cover of this programme shows all album covers of Dire Straits and says: "No DS, no commitment". |

Event | "Music for Montserrat"
Date | 15th September 1997
Number of pages | 60 | |
Comments | Some of rock music's biggest stars performed at this benefit concert at the Royal Albert Hall (London, UK) on 15th September 1997 to raise money for the volcano-ravaged Caribbean island of Montserrat. The concert has been organised by Sir George and Lady Martin together with Harvey Goldsmith to raise funds for the victims of the Soufriere volcano on the island of Montserrat which has been in a continuous state of eruption since July 1993. The explosion in June 1997 killed 19 people and rendered 1500 homeless. Mark Knopfler was one of the artists and played Wild Theme (Local Hero), Brothers in Arms and Money for Nothing together with Sting. Mark Knopfler also played guitar on the songs of Sting, Elton John, Eric Clapton and Paul McCartney. |

Event | "Teenage Cancer Trust - concert March 2003"
Year | 2003 | |
Number of pages | 36 | |
Comments | In March 2003, six concerts were held at the Royal Albert Hall to support the Teenage Cancer Trust. On 25th March, Mark Knopfler and Eric Clapton were scheduled to perform. Sadly, Mark Knopfler got a motorcycle accident on 17th March 2003, while he was on his way to the rehearsals for the tour. This lead to the cancelling of the complete The Ragpicker's Dream tour and also this planned date for the Teenage Cancer Trust was impossible for Mark to play. So, what we have here is a nice concert programme, including two pages of Mark Knopfler, of a show on which he unfortunately did not perform. |

Event | "The Opera House at Boothbay Harbor welcomes Mark Knopfler"
Date | 20th September 2006
Number of pages | 20 | |
Comments | For this chairty concert that Mark Knopfler did, a small programme was made. It's a very simple booklet, only the front and back cover is in colour, the rest is in black and white. It features biographies of Mark Knopfler, Guy Fletcher, Richard Bennett and Glenn Worf, a story about the Opera House and a list of sponsors. The Opera House was at risk of being demolished and needed a lot of money to save the building. One of the things to raise money, was a special one-off concert of Mark Knopfler and his band. The concert took place at The Opera House, Boothbay Harbor, USA, 20th September 2006. |
