Apart from his very well known work with Dire
Straits, Mark Knopfler has contributed to many albums of various artists. The
series of "Session Work" is a compilation of these songs.
The
guitar work for 17 Hills was recorded by Mark in his own British Grove Studios
and overdubt in early 2009. The song was first only available on the
downloadable EP Amerikana and later on the CD A map of the floating
city (2011). Also a 2CD version of that album was released which included
also the instrumental version of 17 Hills with Mark Knopfler on guitar.
Recorded back in 1979 as part of the Slow train coming
sessions, Mark plays on Trouble in mind, a track on Bob Dylan's 2011
Pure Dylan album. In 1979 it was only availabe as the B-side of the 7
inch vinyl single Precious angel. The 1979 single released version is,
however, an edit (a shortened) version of this song. On Pure Dylan the
full length version is released. It has an extra verse and is also remastered.
Mark Knopfler also contributed to Chimes of Freedom: Songs of Bob Dylan
Honoring 50 Years of Amnesty International. He plays and sings on the song
Restless farewell. In 2012, Mark has produced an album for Bap Kennedy.
Apart from the production work, Mark also plays guitar on various tracks and
provides backing vocals on Celtic sea. The
last track, Into the arms of love, is a bonus track on the album. Mark
Knopfler plays on Bo Walton's debut album Waiting on a dream.
Mark is featured on the track Miss you bad.
Also a seperate
2 track single was released, Mark plays guitar on Hey
mister night, a track that can not be found on the album. Mark 's
contributions were recorded way back on the 5th of October 1993 and the material
has never been released before.
Note: since this are all official recordings, I do NOT copy or
trade this material. It's just meant for people who are looking for songs with
Mark Knopfler and want to check on which albums these songs can be found.
