Mark Knopfler and his guitars

Mark used this guitar as a replacement for his National on the BBC Radio 2 show with Ken Bruce on 29th October 2018. Mark got the guitar from slide player Jerry Douglas during the recording sessions with Bab Kennedy. It is either the Model 27 Roundneck or Model 37 Roundneck. See here a picture of the Model 37. The good old 1937 National seemed too fragile after all these years of touring, so Mark decided not to take it out for the last Down the road wherever tour, but used this Beard Deco Phone instead for Romeo and Juliet and for the intro of Telegraph road.
