Additional info This screenshot is taken from the program Lo+Plus, broadcasted on Canal+, 8th November 2000. One of the hosts of the show handed Mark a guitar. Mark says he's working on a song and starts to play it. It's in fact No Cambié and the Spanish audience starts singing it, funny moment. It's most likely not Mark's guitar.

Mark Knopfler purchased this
guitar from Rumble Seat Music in Ithaca, New York, in April 2005. On first arrival, every guitar would spend time in Mark’s hands so he could get an idea of the sound and where a particular guitar might fit in a particular song.

Both this Starfire II and the Starfire III (see guitar below) were present during February 2014 recording sessions at British Grove Studios for Knopfler’s 2015 solo studio album Tracker, as seen in a
shot by keyboardist and album co-producer Guy Fletcher. The Starfire II is indicated by the red arrow.

Although likely tested for a particular use during the recording process, it is not known whether either model made it on to the final record.

This guitar was auctioned at Christie's in London on 31st January 2024. It was sold for 21.420 Pounds.
