Mark Knopfler received this
acoustic
guitar as a gift from former GT driver Nicolaus Springer in 2011 and
kept it for home use. Knopfler would predominantly use acoustics at home for
songwriting purposes, as he explained to Vintage Guitar magazine in 2014:
‘In terms of the songwriting, what I’m holding certainly [tends] to dictate.
I’ve usually got an acoustic guitar when I’m fooling around at home, so most
of the writing would be around that. And, if I’m taking a look at the songs,
it will usually be with an acoustic in my hand.’
This guitar was auctioned at
Christie's
in London on 31st January 2024. It
was sold for 15.120 Pounds.
