UNE HISTOIRE ANGLAISE

Additional comments:
A home-made Super Video-CD containing a French TV special called "Dire Straits - Une Histoire Anglaise". Broadcasted in 1984. The special contains some live songs, a French reporter telling parts of the Dire Straits history and an interview with Mark Knopfler (French subtitles, you can hear Mark talk without any interruptions). Songs: Wild west End, Eastbound train and Les boys. You can also see the band playing pool. The most interesting part however is that this recording contains the jam that can also be found on Rare Sessions I (track 5). Mark is sitting in the studio jamming away on an acoustic guitar creating really great sounds! Unfortunately, the picture quality is not good but it's an interesting recording anyway. Total track length is about 24 minutes.

After this documentary a part of "Les Enfants du Rock" can be seen, recorded in 1985. It contains an interview with John Illsley during the Brothers in Arms tour, promoting the album and the Philips compact disc. It ends with So far Away (live). Total time of this part is about 13 minutes. Please mind: really horrible picture quality on this piece of recording!  Available on one CD-R.

Video-CD's can be played on DVD players or normal CD-ROM players. This SVCD needs special software to watch on your PC. I can play this Super Video-CD on my external Sony DVD player (DVP-NS705V) without any problem. Note however that some DVD players have problems with Video-CD's / Super Video CD's. So I can only guarantee that they work on your PC CD-ROM drive!
